Missing grandmother, grandson, returning to Iowa
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — No charges are expected to be filed against an Iowa grandmother who disappeared with her 6-year-old grandson on what authorities say might have been dog-buying trip to Indiana.
Delaware County Sheriff John LeClere says 56-year-old Nancy Sullivan, of Colesburg, is on her way back to Iowa after her rental car had a tire problem over the weekend.
Sullivan and her grandson were reported missing Saturday by the boy’s mother. They were found Sunday near Indianapolis, about 400 miles from the boy’s home in Colesburg.
LeClere says Sullivan told the boy’s mother she was taking him shopping but called later to say she was taking him to a park to play.
LeClere says it appears Sullivan planned on surprising her grandson with a new puppy she had found in Indiana.
