Missing Iowa woman, 6-year-old grandson found safe nearly 400 miles away in Ind.
COLESBURG, Iowa (AP) — Authorities in Indiana have found a missing Iowa woman and her 6-year-old grandson.
The Iowa Department of Public Safety reported late Sunday that 56-year-old Nancy Sullivan and her grandson, Gregory Hansel, are in good condition and expected to return home Monday.
They were found near Brownsburg, Ind., nearly 400 miles from the boy’s home in Colesburg in eastern Iowa, where the pair was last seen around 9:30 a.m. Saturday. The boy’s mother told authorities she last heard from them Saturday evening.
Investigators say it’s unclear why Sullivan drove to Indiana with her grandson, but apparently they had vehicle problems.
Sullivan had been listed as a missing person. Investigators said earlier Sunday that they’d found her car in Dyersville, Iowa, about 15 miles from Colesburg.
