Mississippi River level continues to drop in La Crosse

The Mississippi River stage continues to drop in our area as the flooding threat is decreasing across the region.

The river dropped below 13 and a half feet Tuesday.

And the National Weather Service in La Crosse is predicting the river will fall below 13 feet later this week.

The Mississippi River is the last river in our area above flood stage.

As long as we don’t get heavy rain in the near future, the river should continue to fall.

“Those chances look to be a little bit on the lower side and the rainfall amounts don’t look to be heavy with these systems, so it should not be enough rain to cause any problems,” said NWS La Crosse Meteorologist Stu Ireland.

The Mississippi River has been above the 12 foot flood stage since March 26th.
