Mississippi River Rentals owner arrested on theft charges

La Crosse police arrested the owner of Mississippi River Rentals on theft charges on Wednesday, July 17.

La Crosse police say the charges for Michael A. Fucshel, 39, are related to the Mississippi River Rental houseboat business.

Fuschsel was booked in the La Crosse County Jail on the following charges: theft-business setting and theft, according to online jail records. Details on this case have not been released yet, but La Crosse police say there are several people who have filed reports in the case.

Fuschsel appeared in La Crosse County Court Thursday afternoon. A judge set a $5,000 signature bond. Fuschsel’s next court appearance is on Thursday, July 25.

In late May, a rented houseboat from Mississippi River Rental went over Lock & Dam No. 7 near Dresbach, Minnesota, with 11 people on board. All were pulled from the water safely. The Winona County sheriff’s officials said they weren’t recommending any criminal charges in that case. That houseboat remains in the water.
