Mona Rybold
August 12, 1933 - July 22, 2022
Mona I. Rybold, 88, of La Crosse passed away peacefully in her sleep after a courageous battle with cancer and Parkinson’s on Friday, July 22, 2022, at the Marinuka Manor in Galesville, WI.
As a friend so beautifully put it, “Just like her to sneak off to the next room.”
Mona was born on August 12, 1933, and married Vern Rybold on May 7, 1955. She worked as a nurse for Mayo for her entire career. Her next venture in life was helping raise her grandchildren. “Granny’s” house was a gathering place after school and on weekends. The door was always open. She was an avid quilter and knitter. You could always find her sitting on the “sun porch” amid her large collection of material, yarn and “UFO’s.” She gave the sewing machine a break for two things: coffee with a sweet treat and, of course, the Green Bay Packers. She cherished her quilting retreat with her sister, Aunt B. and sister-in-law Aunt Sonya.
She is survived by her son, Mark (Rose) Rybold of Coconut Creek, FL; daughters, Ann (Rob) Harris of Stoddard and Karen (Steve) Kramer of La Crosse; grandchildren, Nicole, Jeff, Dylan and Kaylee; great-grandchildren, Josiah, Gabe, Tara, Hannah, Brody and Zane; her sister, Betty Searle (Aunt B.), and her sister-in-law, Vivan “Viv” Dugger.
She was preceded on death by her parents, our beloved dad, “Mr. V,” and her brother.
Memorial services will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at the Dickinson Family Funeral Home at 1425 Jackson St. in La Crosse. US Air Force Chaplain Captain Jeffrey Rybold will officiate, and a private family burial will take place in the Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until time of services.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Hillview Terrace, Marinuka Manor, Jennifer, Dr. Skendzel and the entire hospice team at Gundersen for the wonderful care given to mom. You have all made this journey a little bit easier.
