More than a dozen hospitalized after Minn. fire
MINNEAPOLIS — Authorities say more than a dozen people were taken to hospitals after a fire engulfed several apartments near downtown Minneapolis.
Assistant Fire Chief Cherie Penn says 14 people were taken to local hospitals, including six who were considered critically injured. No deaths have been reported.
Emergency responders say some people may have fallen from the building or jumped to escape flames.
Hennepin County Medical Center was treating 10 of the victims, including three people in critical condition. Hospital spokeswoman Christine Hill says all were suffering from burns, broken bones or both.
Penn says victims also were taken to Fairview University hospital, but a spokeswoman there said she couldn’t release any information.
The three-story building houses a grocery store on the ground floor and two levels of apartments above it.
