Most road work to go on hold over holiday
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Most highway road work will be put on hold over the Thanksgiving Day weekend to help travelers and deer hunters get where they need to be.
However, the state Department of Transportation cautions that some ongoing projects will require drivers to be prepared for orange barrels, lane shifts and reduced speeds.
Traffic is expected to be heavy on Friday as deer hunters head to the woods as well as on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. The heaviest travel day is expected to be the Sunday after Thanksgiving as people are returning home.
Travelers are asked to either call 511 to get traffic updates or check them online at http://www.511wi.gov.
