Mt. La Crosse surprises winter sports fans with early opening
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Mt. La Crosse decided to take advantage of last Saturday night’s snow storm.
On Sunday afternoon, the ski hill opened up for the first time this season.
Mt. La Crosse was planning to open this coming Thursday but because of the fresh snow … management wanted to kick off the season a little early.
Despite a warm fall, Mt. La Crosse’s owners say the snow is helping them stay right on track.
Although they were only able to open one slope Sunday, they say they’re just happy to start the season.
“Typically we open with another run or two in addition to that but we thought it would be better to have something than nothing. With all this fresh snow, we just couldn’t make people stay away and we wanted people to be able to come out and play,” said Darcie Breidel, general manager of Mt. La Crosse.
After Sunday, Mt. La Crosse will close again for further preparations but will reopen on Thursday.
