National Donate Life Ceremonies Promote Organ Donation

Raising Awareness for Organ Donation

Gundersen Health System and the Mayo Clinic Health System were among the more than 80 Donate Life Wisconsin members and partner organizations that simultaneously hosted a statewide Donate Life Flag-raising ceremony and moment of silence to promote the mission of organ, tissue and eye donation, and honor donors and their families. One family from Mayo talked about how a donation allowed them an extra 6 years with their family member.

“He was able to do regular things like play cribbage and meet my daughter. He was also able to do big things like birthdays and holidays and we wouldnt have had that without the donation.” Lori Morton-Lockley at Mayo Clinic Health Systems

Stories like Lori’s follow every donation. And As a part of Nation Donate Life Month you can register to be a organ donor and make a difference.

“We have the chance to help others in our time of death by giving a gift of life that will help someone else be able to have that chance to walk their child down the isle or to see their child graduate that they may have never had any other time” Seth Barna – Gundersen Organ and Tissue Liaison

Donations from one person can save the lives of 8 people and better those of up to 80. Those who recieve these gifts of life are forever grateful. If you are interested in becoming an organ donor information is available at Donatelife.org
