National Guard testing site being considered for La Crosse County

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – La Crosse County health officials say although testing has increased in our area, it’s still not enough.

One way the Health Department determines this is by comparing local numbers with the state’s testing rate recommendations.

Right now, La Crosse County isn’t meeting the state’s goal.

So the department is discussing the possibility of sending an application to the National Guard for a testing site in the county.

The county’s health director says they want to take advantage of any help they can get.

“Our residents deserve us bringing in a resource, if there is one available, to increase testing so we have a better understanding of what’s happening in our communities,” said Jen Rombalski, Director, La Crosse County Health Department.

According to the county’s data, the current average of daily tests in the most recent two week period is 63 tests per day.

But the goal is 247 tests per day in the county.
