Need a ride after a few drinks this weekend? The Wis. Tavern League’s SafeRide has you covered

Wis. Tavern League reminding bar patrons about free taxi program

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – We all know Wisconsinites like to hit the bars, especially for special occasions like ringing in the New Year.

The state’s Tavern League wants to remind everyone that you can always get a safe ride home.

If you’ve been drinking and can’t get behind the wheel, ask the bartenders for a safe ride voucher.

The local vice president of the La Crosse area Tavern League, Glenn Garbers, drives a taxi.

He says there’s no bad time to ask for a ride.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s 8 o’clock at night, midnight, 3 o’clock in the morning, 5 or 6 o’clock in the morning, we would be glad to take them home to their destination,” said Garbers.

171 bars and restaurants are a part of the league, so there’s a good chance your bartender can help you out.

If you want to plan ahead, the Tavern League has a phone app called ‘TLW SafeRide’. It can help you find a participating bar.
