Neenah requires bartenders to stay under 0.08
NEENAH, WI (AP) — Bartenders don’t have to remain completely sober while working in Neenah, but they must not be legally intoxicated.
The City Council passed an ordinance Wednesday night that requires bartenders to stay under the 0.08 blood alcohol limit that’s used for motorists.
The ordinance has been on the table in Neenah since February. An initial proposal called for absolute sobriety for bartenders, but that drew the ire of tavern owners.
WHBY radio reports council member Shiloh Ramos says bartenders need to make judgments about whether a customer is too drunk to drive, so should they should not be impaired by alcohol.
