New body scanner in place at Monroe County Jail

Scanner will be used in place of physical searches

SPARTA, Wis. (WKBT) – New technology will help the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department keep themselves and community members safe.

The Department recently installed a body scanner.

The new technology will be in place of physical searches of people coming into the jail.

“It’s just another tool to aid us in the prevention of contraband and illegal substances coming into the jail,” said Monroe County Sheriff’s Department Captain Stan Hendrickson.

Staff have completed training for the scanner.

The registration process of the scanner with state officials is underway.

It is not known when that process will finish.
