New information about fatal shooting in Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WKBAT) – New information has been released on a fatal shooting that happened in Eau Claire on Friday, March 20th shortly before 9 pm.

Eau Claire Police say 30-year-old Edwin James Garcia-Smith was shot and killed in a residence on the 4600 block of Kappus Drive.

An unnamed 32-year-old woman was also shot.

She was brought to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorities say they expect she will recover.

There were three children in the home at the time, they are uninjured and safe.

Police determined this was a targeted crime.

The two suspects fled the scene and have not been located.
