New requirement for unemployment claims

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The state has a new requirement for those filing for unemployment insurance.

In addition to the current requirement that the unemployed make an active search for work by contacting at least two employers each week, those filing for unemployment must also register with Wisconsin Job Service.

Department of Workforce Development Secretary Scott Baumbach says the state is adding the new requirement in order to match unemployed residents with job openings. The department is notifying people of the new requirement when they file their initial claims.
