New trail connector keeping hikers safe

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – There’s a new trail available that gives hikers a more safe experience.

The shared-use connector trail makes it possible to get on trails from downtown neighborhoods to the bluff without having to walk on roads.

For hikers, it allows for more immersion in La Crosse’s natural areas.

“Some here today were mentioning that not only is it safe, but it’s scenic … it’s so much better to walk along the trail than to walk along the road,” said Jed Olson, executive director of ORA Trails.

The connector trail stretches from the Alpine Inn to the Compass South trail in the Gateway Trail System.
