New Winona Family YMCA welcoming guests, former building clearing out
New Family YMCA located near Winona Health on Winona's south side
WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) – Winona’s new Family YMCA is open, a space that is years in the making.
The organization is welcoming the community, even though the building is not completed.
The new building is near Winona Health on the city’s south side and includes fitness areas, a pool and family fun center.
Construction started in late 2019 after seven years of discussions.
Reservations are required for anyone using the building with COVID-19 safety protocols in place.
Meanwhile, the former Winona Y is being cleared out.
The Y auctioned off hundreds of items from Exercise equipment to free weights to basketball court floor and office furniture.
The now former building near the downtown will be demolished to make way for a parking for Fastenal’s new downtown Winona expansion.
