News 8 Now Highlight Zone: Holmen wrestling falls in D1 state quarterfinals
In a dual that went down to the final match, Holmen wrestling fell 38-37 to four-seed Arrowhead at the D1 state quarterfinals at team state wrestling Friday night.
Holmen picked up four pins, including senior Alex Pellowski, who finished his career with 150 wins.
The final match at 152 pounds ended with Arrowhead’s Keegan O’Toole securing a pin in 47 seconds to get the team win.
“Our guys brought it,” head coach Jason Lulloff said after the loss. “I’m proud of them, the way they wrestled. We had a gameplan. We knew we’d either lose by one, tie them, or win by one, and we ended up losing by one. If we just could’ve found a way to tie them–we had the tiebreaker criteria set. It was a good dual.”
