No charges against Minneapolis cops in Wisconsin case

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Two Minneapolis police officers accused of using racial slurs to describe a group of black men after a scuffle in Wisconsin will not be charged.

The Star Tribune reports the white officers who were off-duty at the time allegedly fought with a group of black men outside a bar June 29 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, after words were exchanged. The black men left the area and were not named in the Green Bay police report.

Green Bay Assistant City Attorney Kail Decker says not knowing who the men’s identities make it difficult to file charges.

The mayor and police chief of Minneapolis have expressed outrage over the officers’ behavior. The officers have been placed on paid administrative leave. An internal affairs investigation continues in Minneapolis.
