No serious injuries in Jackson Co. school bus crash
VILLAGE OF MERRILLAN, Wis. (WKBT) — Several students were injured after a school bus was rear-ended in Jackson Co. Friday.
It happened about 3:50 p.m. in the Village of Merrillan.
Witnesses say a school bus from the Alma Center-Merrillan School District was north bound on North Hayden Street when it was struck from behind by an SUV.
The Jackson Co. Sheriff’s Dept. says the bus was in the process of stopping to let students off when the crash happened.
At least 32 students were on the bus which received minimal damage.
Initially, 12 students complained of injuries and 3 were taken to the hospital by ambulance with non life-threatening injuries.
The SUV received major front-end damage.
The sheriff’s dept. says the driver is suspected of following too closely and will be cited.
The crash remains under investigation.
