‘Northern Warfare Challenge’ bring college competitors from around U.S. to La Crosse
Teams came from as far away as Massachusetts and Arizona to take part.
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The Eagle Battalion at UW-La Crosse is helping military students from around the country challenge themselves.
40 teams are in the La Crosse area for the annual ‘Northern Warfare Challenge’.
Teams were in Hixon forest Saturday taking part in knot-tying. fire-starting and marksmanship competitions.
Competitors then rappelled down George’s Bluff, all while wearing a 35-pound backpack.
The two-day competition uses more than the local landscape to challenge competitors.
“Yesterday was windy, you know you’ve got battle the cold. Once they start moving through these bluffs and they start running, they should warm up pretty fast,” said Cadet Ryan Elwing of the UW-La Crosse ROTC.
