Numbers need to add up before Randall Cobb trade
The fascination and mystery over Aaron Rodgers has come to an end for the time being, but now the newest Packers mystery is whether or not the team will bring in Randall Cobb by way of a trade with the Texans.
On Tuesday morning Chris Brockman of the Rich Eisen Show reported a trade sending Cobb to Green Bay was a done deal.
Everyone from current Texans wideout Brandin Cooks to former Packers receiver James Jones tweeted like it was a done deal, but Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says not so fast.
Cobb’s contract with the Texans calls for a cap hit of almost $8.5 million this year. The Packers are short by more than $3.5 million. The Texans could eat some of Cobb’s guaranteed money with a restructure, but it’s up to Cobb how much of a pay cut he’s willing to take, per Silverstein.
Packers veterans, including Aaron Rodgers, reported to camp on time Tuesday morning. The first practice of training camp is Wednesday morning.
