NW Iowa man sentenced for theft of lottery tickets
ORANGE CITY, Iowa (AP) — An Orange City man who was convicted of stealing lottery tickets has been sentenced to 30 days in jail and two years’ probation.
The Sioux County attorney’s office says 26-year-old Nathan Stienstra was sentenced this week for forger/theft of lottery tickets and fourth-degree theft.
The charges stem from the November 2010 theft of 15 lottery scratch-off tickets from a Casey’s General Store in Orange City. It was later determined Stienstra, who worked at the store at the time, stole the tickets from the store’s safe and gave them to another person to pay off a debt.
Prosecutors say surveillance cameras caught that person redeeming the tickets at another convenience store in Orange City.
