Off-duty cop’s gun fires at Wisconsin mall

GREENDALE, Wis. (AP) — Greendale police say an off-duty Milwaukee police officer accidentally fired his gun while he was shopping at a mall. No one was hurt.

Greendale police Chief Robert Malasuk says the officer was shopping Wednesday afternoon when he reached into his pocket to pull out some money. Malasuk says that’s when the gun accidentally fired.

A WTMJ-TV report says there were no injuries. Malasuk says the bullet disintegrated when it hit the marble floor so there wasn’t any damage. He also says the gun never fell to the floor.

The police chief says the officer was turned over to the Milwaukee department to review proper safety protocol.
