Officer hit by car in Holmen drug arrest identified
La Crosse Inv. James Mancuso had minor injuries
HOLMEN, Wis. (WKBT) — We now know the name of the officer injured during a drug arrest in Holmen.
La Crosse Police Department Investigator James Mancuso was hit by a car driven by 24-year-old Brandon Ritter last week when officers tried to arrest Ritter as part of an ongoing drug investigation. Mancuso is a part of the West Central MEG Unit, which includes drug investigators from multiple agencies in the area.
Mancuso shot at Ritter as he drove away until Ritter hit a snowbank and was arrested.
Both were treated for minor injuries.
Investigator Mancuso is now on paid administrative leave as part of the department’s protocol for officer-involved shootings.
Ritter is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
