Officers shoot deer inside campus center

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — St. Paul police officers fatally shot a deer that broke into a building at St. Catherine University.

The six-point buck smashed through a window of a building that houses the campus center and classrooms Wednesday evening. Once inside, the deer broke through an interior wall and hid in a stairwell. Classes were being held at the time, but no one was injured.

A police official tells the Pioneer Press officers feared the buck would hurt someone or cause more damage, so it was shot.
