Officers suspended, confrontation investigated

A newly released police report in Green Bay is shedding light on suspensions of two Minneapolis police officers.

The officers were suspended Friday without explanation.

The Green Bay report says the two off-duty officers used racial slurs to describe a group of black men they scuffled with on a sidewalk during the early morning hours of June 29. The report says the off-duty officers, who are white, had been drinking. It says one of the Minneapolis officers punched one of the men.

The Star Tribune reports the off-duty officers felt Green Bay police weren’t doing enough to find the men involved in the confrontation so they went to a police station to complain. It says the officers went back to their hotel after an expletive-laden rant.
