Onalaska boys, Holmen girls win MVC cross country championships

Onalaska boys and Holmen girls cross country each had dominant team efforts to win MVC titles Thursday at Maple Grove Venues.

The Hilltopper boys had the top three individuals on the day. Freshman Manny Putz won the day with a time of 16 flat. Senior Ron Walters finished second at 16:06, and senior Austen Oyen clocked in 16:28 for third.

The Holmen girls put up a score of 28 to coast to victory. Sophomores Anabella Phillips and Sydney Valiska finished second and third overall, respectively, to lead the Vikings.

The Ridge and Valley Conference also hosted its conference meet Thursday. Kickapoo-La Farge swept the championships. The boys scored a 24 and had four runners in the top five, including race winner Nolan Reese with a time of 18:24. Teammate Corey Camlek finished second overall at 18:49. The girls had their five top runners all finish in the top six overall. Anelise Egge won the race with a time of 20:53.
