Onalaska Firefighters Association promotes health and wellness with Firehouse 5K

ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) — Athletes showed up bright and early at the Onalaska Fire Department Saturday for the 11th annual Firehouse 5k.

The run/walk event was put on by Onalaska Firefighters Association and the Children’s Miracle Network.

Organizers say they hope this event helps to promote health and wellness in the community.

“By people coming out and doing stuff like this it can kind of create something that they enjoy– to get outside, run or walk and create a habit of wellness,” said Cory Taylor, an Onalaska firefighter.

This event also has another benefit: it’s a fundraiser for the Children’s Miracle Network.

The organizations have partnered for this event for the past eleven years.

The event led into an open house for families to check out all the Onalaska Fire Department has to offer.
