Onalaska High School students plan 5K for good cause

The rain and cold weather didn’t stop Sunday morning people from getting in some exercise during the Girl Up 5K at the Onalaska High School.

The race benefits the charity Girl Up, set up by the United Nations in its effort to empower women throughout the world.

The event was organized by two Onalaska High School students working to fulfill requirements to receive a global education certificate from the school.

The students say working toward the certificate has changed their perspective on the world around them.

The students were able to raise around $1,500 for the Girl Up charity.
