Onalaska police warn residents to lock up after string of car and garage entries

Police say the crimes were opportunistic and occured at night

A string of car and garage entries in Onalaska has the Police Department warning residents to lock up.

The Onalaska Police Department is asking residents to make sure the service doors to garages and car doors are locked at all times.

Authorities said there were a few garage and vehicle entries near Spring Hill Way in Onalaska late Friday night and into Saturday morning.

Police said the crimes were opportunistic, which means the suspects entered the garage and vehicles through unlocked doors at night.        

Authorities want to remind residents to double check car doors and service doors before heading off to bed.            

“We ask that if any residents see anything suspicious in the area, give us a call, even if it’s four oh clock in the morning, they hears something strange, give the non-emergency number a call and contact the police dept. so we can take a look at what is going on,” said Officer Shawn Colgan, Onalaska Police Department.
