Onalaska Schools to wait until next week to make decision on in-person learning

ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT)- The School District of Onalaska will wait until Wednesday, October 21st to decide if it will shift to in-person learning.

Superintendent Todd Antony said in a note to district parents and staff, “the current case rate as reported by the La Crosse County Health Department continues in a positive trend. Today’s data update indicates that we are averaging 26.9 new daily cases per 100,000 people on a seven day average. If this trend continues and we are in the Orange category next Wednesday, we will begin in-person programming on Monday, October 26th.”

“We are encouraged by the latest news from La Crosse County as it is very positive compared to what is happening across the state overall. Continuing to follow all guidelines related to social distancing, mask wearing and the limiting of public gatherings will assist in this trend and help to bring students physically back to school,” Antony continued in the note.
