One treated for smoke inhalation after vehicle fire in Holmen garage

HOLMEN, Wis. (WKBT) — A tenant was treated for smoke inhalation after a vehicle fire in a garage on Cloverdale Road shortly after 12:20 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release from the La Crosse Fire Department.
The Holmen Area Fire Department was dispatched to the fire inside an attached garage, and the first unit arrived six minutes later, according to the news release.
Heavy smoke was coming from inside the attached garage, but no one was in the residence. Eight firetrucks from surrounding communities responded, with 18 personnel on scene, and they had the fire under control at 12:55 p.m..
One vehicle had heavy smoke and fire damage, while smoke damage to the garage was moderate, the news release said.
A Gundersen Health System Ambulance crew treated and released the tenant for smoke inhalation, according to the news release. No firefighters were injured.
La Crosse Fire Department Fire investigators are probing the fire. Also assisting the Holmen Area Fire Department were Onalaska, Galesville, Trempealeau and Farmington fire departments; La Crosse County Emergency Dispatch Center; the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department; Xcel Energy, and Riverland Power.
