Open enrollment begins for Wisconsin schools
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Starting today, parents in Wisconsin have a say in where their kids will go to school next year.
The annual open enrollment period window opened Monday.
The program allows students who live in one school district to go to school in another district.
School District of La Crosse superintendent Randy Nelson says education isn’t always “one size fits all” and open enrollment allows parents to look for a school district that better suits their child’s needs.
“I think it provides opportunities for parents to make some choices with how they want to move forward with the education for their child,” said Nelson. “As a school system here in La Crosse, choice is something we take a lot of pride in.”
Open enrollment runs through April 28th.
Parents looking to enroll their child in a new school district can find applications online or at the district office.
