Organizers gearing up for record crowd at Steppin’ Out in Pink
LA CROSSE, WI — The annual Steppin’ Out in Pink breast cancer walk is expecting a huge turnout this year as organizers put the finishing touches on the big event.
The tents are up and volunteers are getting the 4.5 mile course ready for walkers Saturday.
6,100 people have already registered this year and they are expecting hundreds more the day of the event. That’s a big jump from last year when they had 5,600 people total.
“This is such an amazing number that we just didn’t know what to think of it, if people were registering early, but not only early but the numbers just keep climbing,” said Organizer Debbie Kroner from Gundersen Medical Foundation.
Early registration has ended, but you can still register on Saturday. Proceeds go toward funding cancer research at Gundersen Health System as well as helping people with breast cancer who are in need.
