Organizers reach signature goal in mayoral recall
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) — Organizers of an effort to recall the mayor of Sheboygan say they have collected enough signatures to proceed.
Recall organizer Mary Jo Stoelb tells WTMJ radio the group has 4,500 signatures and is still collecting. Four-thousand-100 valid signatures are needed by Tuesday to force a recall of Mayor Bob Ryan.
Stoelb says they plan to drop off the signatures Tuesday and hope the recall election can be held in the spring.
Ryan has acknowledged several incidents of public drunkenness in the last several years. The mayor says he has received treatment for alcoholism.
