Outdoor Recreation Alliance planning to build trail farm

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — A local organization is looking to get the community on its feet.

The Outdoor Recreation Alliance, also known as ORA Trails, is planning with contractors to create a community trail farm.

The project has one simple mission: get people outside.

To accomplish this, the project will build a network of connected trails near the town of Shelby to make hiking and other outdoor activities more accessible.

“The unique location has us surrounded by neighborhoods almost on all sides, so not only can we connect throughout the property, but other trail systems and other neighborhoods throughout the community,” said Jed Olson, the executive director of ORA Trails.

ORA Trails has not officially bought the land for the project.

They plan to use grants and private donations to fund the trail farm.

The campaign totals six million dollars.
