Packers GM Brian Gutekunst: ‘We are not going to trade Aaron Rodgers’

Following the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Packers GM Brian Gutekunst fielded questions about Aaron Rodgers’ displeasure with the organization. Gutekunst does not know when the two sides might find a solution, but he does know this:

“We’re not going to trade Aaron Rodgers.”

Gutekunst reiterated Rodgers is the Packers’ quarterback and leader. He also confirmed “there was communication” with Rodgers on Thursday. The media press conference comes after news broke that Rodgers was “so disgruntled” with the Packers’ organization that he had told some people he didn’t want to return to the team.

Gutekunst was also asked about the balance of drafting a player like QB Jordan Love in 2020 and keeping Rodgers happy in 2021, and Gutekunst said every decision the front office makes is in the best interest of the team. He added, “We don’t always get it right, but that is always the intent. Again, not everybody is going to like the things we do, but when we go about it, it’s what’s best for the Green Bay Packers.”
