Packers officially sign LB Mercilus

The Packers announced on Thursday morning the official signing of 31-year-old outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus.

The former first-round pick was released earlier this week by the rebuilding Texans. Mercilus had spent all 10 seasons with Houston and leaves the franchise ranked second in sacks (57).

Mercilus has one double-digit sack season in his career and had three sacks in six games this season. He will wear No. 50.
