Packers officially sign LB Jaylon Smith to 1-year deal
The Packers are signing former Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith to a one-year deal.
The Cowboys cut Smith earlier this week after he lost his starting job to better-performing teammates.
Per ESPN, the Cowboys are paying all of Smith’s $7.2 million base salary due to veteran termination pay rules. NFL Network was first to report the Packers are paying Smith $770,000.
Smith was a 2016 second-round pick but didn’t play because of a major knee injury he suffered in his last college game with Notre Dame. He debuted in 2017 and has played every game for Dallas.
