Phyllis M. Swanson

Phyllis M. Swanson, 80, of Racine, MN, died Wednesday November 17, 2021, at Mayo Clinic Hospitals St. Marys Campus. Phyllis was born October 24, 1941, in Aurora, NE, to Kenneth and Thelma (Pollard) Peterson.

She attended and graduated from Stanhope (Iowa) High School in 1959. On October 6, 1963, Phyllis was united in marriage to Gerald Swanson in Des Moines, IA, where they lived for a short time before moving to the Grand Meadow area where Gerald farmed and worked for IBM. Phyllis was a homemaker all her life. She was a “homebody” who enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, bingo, picking strawberries and an “occasional” glass of wine.

Phyllis is survived by her three children, Daryl (Michelle) Swanson of Kasson, MN, Kristen (Edward) Ehrhardt of Austin, MN and Russell (Abbie Severson) Swanson of Stewartville, MN; nine grandchildren, Alyssa (Kevin) Schmitz, Lauryn, Kyla and Chayse Swanson, Nicholas (Amy) Norby, Jordan, Jacob, Colten and Roric Swanson; five great-grandchildren, Raelynn and Hayden Schmitz, Spencer, Lydia and Naomi Norby; two brothers; Stephen (Chris) Peterson of Colorado and Richard (Jan) Peterson of Stratford, IA. Phyllis is also survived by special friend Dean Hamlin of LeRoy, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gerald, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
