Planning for end of life care
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Planning for the end of life can be important but many people never think about it.
A survey by Home Instead Inc. found while 73 percent of seniors have written a will, only 13 percent have actually made plans for long-term care.
To help encourage the conversation, Home Instead Network is introducing a free resource called “The End of Life Song”, to help seniors and their adult children talk to one another about their plans.
The program also helps people explore options for end of life care, finances, and funeral planning.
“One of the benefits of this program is that you get to sit down and talk to mom and dad about that touchy topic that they really don’t want to discuss at all. But it has to be discussed because of the fact that you’re planning for end of life care. That is the most important care,” said La Crosse Home Instead Senior Care general manager Ram Melendez.
