Plans for new Tomah Memorial Hospital move forward

Plans to build a new hospital in Tomah remain on track.

Tomah Memorial Hospital is planning to build a new $66-million, 140,000 square foot hospital at the south end of the city near Interstate 90.

The proposed three-story building would also have a medical office building attached to the hospital, which could potentially include a partnership with Gundersen Health System.

Tomah Memorial Hospital officials say the new facility will also mean bringing more jobs to the city.

“With the expansion of services, we’ll most definitely have to have more staff to accommodate that, which is a good thing. As we’re looking at that, that will definitely be a part of our ongoing efforts,” said Tomah Memorial CEO Philip Stuart.

Officials hope to begin construction on the new hospital by September with a projected completion date sometime in the summer of 2019.
