Play about after Sandy Hook premiers at UW-La Crosse

New York playwright interviewed survivors, family members

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A New York playwright’s inspiring play about the events following the Sandy Hook shooting will debut at UW-La Crosse Friday night.

Eric Ulloa’s 26 Pebbles is a documentary play based on the actual words of survivors of the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting. Ulloa’s says the play is a chance to look at a community affected in such a negative way and see how it is coping afterwards.

This play is unique because everything is based off interviews with survivors and family members of the shooting.

“It’s not a play about a shooting in a school, it’s not a play about pro-gun control, anti-gun control, it’s not about any of that. It’s about a community. And the idea is that I give you their words. Every word in this play is their word, every um, every period, every dash. It’s their words,” said Ulloa.

26 Pebbles will be performed at 7:30 Friday and Saturday night at UWL’s Toland Theatre in the Center for the Fine Arts.
