Poage Park to hold soft opening Friday

After almost a year of hard work, crews are putting the final touches on renovations at La Crosse’s Poage Park.

The park is set to make a soft opening this Friday.

More than $1.3 million worth of improvements have been put into the park. There’s a new shelter, an upgraded playground, and a new small splash pad for kids.

The city’s parks and rec director says the opening couldn’t have come at a better time.

“You know the kids are standing around the fence and it’s kind of like having an ice cream cone on one side and eating it and not letting the kids come across. It’s important to get this park open,” said Steve Carlyon.

Park officials expect the park to be open for good starting in August.
