Police Appreciation Picnic held in La Crosse

A special ‘thank you’ event was held Thursday evening for all those people who work hard to keep our community a safe place to live.

The La Crosse Area Law Enforcement Chaplaincy hosted the annual Police Appreciation Picnic at Copeland Park. It’s an event to honor all law enforcement personnel in the county.

There was food, door prizes, and a number of games for families to enjoy.

Former La Crosse police chief Ed Kondracki says the one of a kind event is a wonderful opportunity to develop camaraderie outside of a stressful work environment. “Let’s let these people, men and women who police the streets of our communities, let’s give them a chance to relax, get together with one another in a non-threatening environment where they can really let their hair down, and I think it’s just wonderful,” said Kondracki.

La Crosse Mayor Tim Kabat proclaimed Thursday Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.
