Police: Woman held onto drunken-driver’s hood
Witness said car reached 40 mph before woman fell off
MADISON, WI — A witness was surprised no one got killed when a suspected drunken driver was seen driving recklessly with a woman holding onto the hood of the car, according to Madison police.
Police said the car was spotted Sunday afternoon in the 200 block of Swanson Road. The 21-year-old woman on the hood told police she was trying to stop the man from driving.
Other drivers had to swerve or brake hard to miss colliding with the car, according to police. A witness estimated the car reached 40 mph before the woman fell off.
Police said that after the woman fell off, the driver, Karston M. Parduhn, 22, of Madison, put the car the reverse and drove in reverse several blocks back to the parking lot where the incident began.
Officers said Parduhn admitted to police he had a lot to drink before he got behind the wheel. He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree reckless endangerment and operating a vehicle while under the influence.
