Prairie City-Monroe HS locked down after threat
PRAIRIE CITY, Iowa (AP) — Prairie City-Monroe High School has been locked down because of a threat of an intruder.
The school, southeast of Des Moines, released a statement Thursday morning saying it had received a report than an intruder may come to the school.
School officials say parents are not to call or text message their students. They say everyone in the building is safe.
Jasper County Chief Deputy John Halferty says deputies are following up on the threat but that it appears to be unfounded.
Deputies remained at the school over the noon hour Thursday.
No other information has been released.
