Prairie du Chien man arrested for harassment at Iowa college

CALMAR, Iowa (AP) — A student at Northeast Iowa Community College has pleaded guilty to a harassment charge after an incident at the school’s campus in Calmar.

The Winneshiek County sheriff’s department says officers went to the campus on Tuesday on a report of a man possibly armed with a gun. Officials say 22-year-old Brian Pettit of Prairie du Chien, Wis., was taken into custody following a brief search. No weapon was involved.

College spokesman John Noel says authorities took control of the situation and no one was injured. No other details about the incident were released.

Pettit’s case is not listed on the online court system, and there is no phone listing for him. The clerk of court’s office says he pleaded guilty on Wednesday and was fined $65.
