Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin foundation brings back camp to help burn victims

EAST TROY, Wis. (WKBT) — A Wisconsin firefighters group will bring its Burn Camp back in person Aug. 8-14 near East Troy to help children who have suffered serious burns.

The Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation’s week-long camp has been virtual during the past two years because of COVID-19.

The camp at Timber-lee is open to children ages 7 to 17 who participate in activities such as fishing, hiking and other outdoor sports and activities.

“You look forward to camp every year because it’s like a reunion every year,” said camper-turned-counselor Tanya Bolchen. “It’s just a place to belong.”

There is also a day camp for younger children.
